Just got mine the other day. Love the computer but one thing is driving me absolutely crazy...

The fan noise is unbearable. I mean, normal fan noise in any computer is fine to me, even if it's loud. That doesn't bother me.

What bothers me about the fan in my 7515 is not the normal fan sound, but another sound. It's like, nan nan nan nan nan, etc.

Kinda sounds like the hard drive is being accessed, but louder, and coming from the fan area, only when the fan is on.

Have any of you guys experienced that with your 7515? Sounds like I have a cricket in there!

If it's normal, that fine, but I just want to know if mine is defective...

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Mine's pretty quiet. I don't have anything sounding remotely close to what you describe. I think you've got a defective part....

I have a 7510 and I really doubt the 7515 runs *so* much hotter that the fan has to make a lot of noise. Mine is almost silent, and even on full blast is very quiet (one of the things I like about it).

I'd suggest going back to the store with it and trying to get an exchange while you can. Especially if they have one running on the floor and it doesn't make that kind of noise. You don't want to get stuck living with it, or worse yet having a fan fail in a few months and have to send it away.

    Good luck!

I can slightly hear it on my 7426. I can only hear it when my right ear is facing the computer though. Doesn't bother me though, it sounds natural. I kinda like it. Maybe it's not the same sound though, but I can kinda' make it out. No problems for me at maybe 4 months now.
