    Hi,

Picked up an 7811-fx last thursday and in my haste i forgot to check if gateway had the OEM software on their website and recreated the partions.

Gateway want me to pay 20usd for a cd to be mailed to me with the software on it.

Is there any other way to download the software?

Im mostly intersted in the Lableflash stuff

    Thanks
    Raptor

Gateway had a Recovery tool that allowed you to create a drivers and applications DVD and a complete Recovery DVD set (3 DVDs when I did it) containing the entire preload. It was on page 88 and 89 of the user guide. Didn't you see that?

If that $20 includes shipping then it's cheaper than buying the latest version of NERO, which should support labelflash (trial version does not, AFAIK).

(EDIT: And no, you cannot download any of the preinstalled software from Gateway, sorry)

Sorry what is it that you need? Are you looking for the bloatware that was preloaded? Or are you looking for drivers? Your laptop should have came with the recovery cd, however that cd does not have the drivers on it. There are threads in this forum that have all of the drivers on them for you to download (someone please post the link, I'm lazy).

Ah nvm I missed where you said you want the labelflash stuff. I'm not sure if it's legal for anyone to give it to you once you've deleted it, sorry that I couldn't be more help. I would personally try to find freeware that supports labelflash.

    Thanks Guys,

I must ahve skipped over page 88 and 89 in the manual, i am just used to the stuff being avalable online. Its accually my first non OEM laptop that came preinstalled, im used to buying the parts and starting with nothing.

    Thanks Again

If you find an inexpensive source for labelflash media, we'd love to hear about it.

Gateway sent me the CDs (which had drivers + bloated vista + software that came with my laptop on them I think) for free :D

When you say you recreated the partitions...is it safe to assume you no longer have your D partition?
If you do still have the D partition, this thread might be useful to you:

    1. the Vista itself is not bloated, but the original install was rather bloated. Your lappy should have come with a Vista disc, and you can get the drivers online, OR:

    2. My FX has the hardrive "tick". I was able to get gateway to replace the HDD for free under warranty, about 2 weeks after receiving the new HDD I magically received gateway branded recovery discs in the mail. Kind of a long and arduous process, but it would result in you getting free recovery discs.
