I had a problem on my Gateway P-6860 and did a fresh intsall of Vista. I now realize that it doesnt have all the programs that my laptop came with. I now have no CD Burning software or anything =O Is there a way to get it back?
-

if only i could shrink my application/driver recovery disk down to an acceptable size to upload it to rapidshare.

There are free ones that you'll have to live with... don't worry, you can find a decent replacement for everything. Just do some googling
 -

Aww ok. Can you give me the names of the programs that came with this laptop? Maybe ill just buy it again since i already know how to use them.
 -

its cyberlink power2go
anything else you miss?
did you reinstall from gateway original recovery dvd? -

hold on a few. i'm creating an image of the driver/application recovery disk, and then ill see if i can post it to rapidshare or something of that nature.
will post back with an update later. -

update: i found a place to upload the file. http://diablo85.orbitfiles.com give it about 3 hours or so and the file will be published on the site. i have a slow upload speed with this ISP i have.

Dude thank you so much! Do what is it actually that you packaged up? Was it the power2go stuff? +rep for helping me so much!
 -

its a copy of every application and driver that was installed on the 6860 from the factory, but you get to pick and choose what you want installed. the upload is sitting at 31% right now, so it has taken longer than expected due to the upload software timing out every hour or so. ill let you know when its 100% uploaded ready for you to download.
 -

Thank you soo much! Ill be sure to burn it to a disk this time so that this doesnt happen again.

easy on the love there dude. (stares at rep screen...wow) its going to take a little bit longer as i am at 63% and it is going to take a while longer. thankfully, you seem patient enough to wait for the image file of the recovery disk..
edit: 79% and counting.... this is slow. -

alright. the file is finally uploaded 100% ready for download.
 -

Im downloading it now
Although, im not to sure what to do with a UAF File.
      -

Isn't UAF the encrypted UPEK archive? You might have to have the UPEK software on your computer... if he didn't password protect it, you might be able to open it with 7-zip.
I might be completely wrong though. -

its a UIF file. download something like magic disc or daemon tools, install, and then mount the file to a virtual cd-rom drive and it should autoplay the disc from there.
