Hey,
My Friend doused half glass of vodka-energy drink on my 7811.
Iturned off it at once and waited for it to get dry.And after that i removed the keyboard and cleaned it with alchol.
when u remove the keyboard u can see that 7811 is really vulnarable to liquid leaks while there is a large hole right after keyboard wich liquids could easyly reach to the in-companents.Be carefull with that.
Anyway after all,ive got a nonworking space key. a broken Fn key [ i broke it trying to replace it and i really dont feel pain for that, its easier to use ctrl while fn is not there cuz ctrl is at far left corner]
So ı should replace my keyboard.
I got this site in hand (customer support directed me)
http://www.mundocorp.com/
but as u can see there are no spare keyboards for 7811s.
My question is are there any models that are using same keyboards with 7811? like 6860?
Ty

The only way to tell is to see a spec sheet/parts list or measure for yourself and query 6xxx owners. I am very surprised Gateway wouldn't sell it to you directly. There are a couple threads at NBR about how the keys were 'melting' and such, support offered to send them replacements. It is surprising they would not sell them direct.

Im not sure if it is like that because i live in Turkey, and gateway doesnt have products here(not even a distributor doing that).
Actually while contacting to customer service i told that i need the product to be shipped here, maybe thats why they directed me to that manufacturer.
So here are 2 keyboards
This is 7811's

This is 6860's
http://support.gateway.com/s/Mobile/2008/GodzillaFX/8017118R/8017118Rmv.shtml
they seem quite same to me,
but i have to be sure...
i asked the same question to the customer support, showing them both
keyboards.
i just received this from support:
"In line with the keyboard, please be informed that a certain keyboard is designed specifically on a certain model. While some have a similarity, they can be use with some Gateway system."
means what?
i wish they were a bit clear.. -
Means they don't want to be held responsible if it doens't work... but as far as i know the shell and casing and i would think keyboard are all exactly the same as the 6860. Probably a safe bet in my opinion. I would do it. but "like gateway" i take no responsibility if it fails =)

laptoprepairparts.com has a pretty wide selection. Unfortunately, they are out of this keyboard, but as you can see, the keyboard works in the P170 and P6000 series. They haven't updated their site to identify what works in a P7000 series yet, but you could send them an email and ask.

Thank you for giving a hand,
Unfortunately, laptoprepairparts.com does not ship internationaly
Customer support answers are getting weird,
here is my lastest question:
Im sorry for bothering you this much,
I have to be sure before i order this product
So thats why i need gateway to be certain about:
Are those products similar or same and can they be used in both 7811 and 6860.
This is 7811's http://support.gateway.com/s/Mobile/...17614Rmv.shtml
This is 6860's http://support.gateway.com/s/Mobile/...17118Rmv.shtml
Thank you for your support.
and weirdest answer ive ever got...
""I checked the specification of your system and found the link below is the keyboard on your computer.
http://support.gateway.com/s/Mobile/2008/GodzillaFX/8017614R/8017614Rmv.shtml ""
?????
why link me a product which i already linked and asked if its same with an other?
is it my english, that prevents me understanding the real answer here? -
haha no. they are just idiots! maybe they don't understand english...
-
Confirmed.
"This two system have the same keyboard installed on them and thus they can use both the keyboard."
Problem solved,
Ty -
