I got X9100 on G50VT-X1, all working fine, with the Turbo Extreme mode I was able to push it all the way to 3.37GHz! However, I got the throttle 100% but it just gave me 3226MHz. Well still it's a really good result, but I suspected that RightMark is the root of the problem.

I checked the BIOS in Asus G50VT-X1, no options for multipliers are available as well. The reason I could overclock was the Turbo Extreme mode I believe(so far).

Will try to do some benchmarks soon.

Interesting....I thought for sure The Asus had sliders! I feel ALOT better now!

Turbo extreme sounds sweet! Gimme 3.37GHz on this Gateway!! Does it say 3.37GHz in the bios? Can you take a Cpu Z Screenshot?

    Holy crap -_-

    Please do some benchmarks :D
I hate Gateway, for not enabling OC for the T8300 in my 6860fx...!!

cool beans. Good to know you were able to overclock pretty well on the Asus.

    What are your temps running?

Forgot about temps.. Your temps must be very high? Im guessing at least 70c under full load?

    Forget?
Its a 15in laptop. And unless Asus did something about their poor air flow problems then temps are actually a pretty big deal. Remember the m15x from alienware ;)

The 3.37GHz kinda threw me off... I lost all touch with reality ;)
But Im sure one could fry an egg on the back of that laptop..... Something, I personally wouldnt be able to live with - Im still annoyed my 6860fx CPU tops at 49c :p

No worries, i understand. I would love to see something larger than 3.0gHz with my CPU. Unfortunately gateway allows for NOTHING :p For being such sticklers for overclocking voids warranties... its odd they would even offer the 3.0 overclock to the extreme CPU users. And then for some reason refuse to let us go any higher.

Its like some kind of twisted double standard.

And i know what you mean about temps. I'm sitting at 3.0gHz with my x9000 undervolted at 32-34 degrees right now. And i rarely get any higher than mid 50's unless I'm intentionally stressing the CPU and i have yet to break 62degrees with that. I want 3.4 or 3.6 overclocks :D

    cant wait !

Did you buy the Asus to have 2 notebooks or are you choosing and getting rid of one?....I have thought about selling this 7811 for an Asus or other with OC ability for my X9100.

Calm down, guys :D Prime 95 is on its way, and now I am actually very impressed with the temps!

HWMonitor: THRM peak 76C, no TSZ0 or TSZ1 anymore on G50VT-X1.

RightMark gives me about 62.8C, I will tell you guys later how to do the trick :D

Temps from RightMark kind of match HWMonitor, as Core #0 shows 65C while Core#1 shows 66C!

...I hangout mostly in the Asus Section and only started hanging out here because of my interest in the P-7811FX and P-7801u. This would be something that some folks over there would very interested in hearing about this.

BMW, you would be seeing 3.226GHz in CPUz, but RMclock did show 3.37GHz as the full speed while Throttle would be 3.226GHz.

Not bad the CPU seems to enjoy that overclock. Mid to high 60's is a pretty good stress temp.

Your thermal sensor is a bit high (no big deal though) and you GPU is strangely high for basically being idle, but that's pretty typical for Asus.

All in all not too shabby at all.
Enjoy being clocked 326mHz faster than i will ever get to see :( :p :D

The GPU is actually trying to reach as fast as 9800M GTS, which is why it's a little high. Next we will see 3DMark2006 benchies!

Cool cant wait, the huge overclock should get you a really nice CPU score, and the low res will give a huge boost to numbers. You should pretty easily break 10K in 3dm06

Assuming of course the program doesnt hate you like it does me :p

Next, we will have detail screenshot of RMClock CPU Utility. So here, we basically have an OC with Vcore 1.225V. This is the best I can do without any lockups and BSOD in Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit.

However, you can also do Turbo Extreme mode without undervolting. The advantage is that you can REALLY achieve 3.37GHz, but the disadvantage is that you cannot undervolt the CPU, which may be a problem for all of us who wanna get a chill gaming laptop.

The screenshots taken are not with the laptop cooler underneath.

The reason why you only throttle at 3.2 is RMclock don't use 11x5 multiplier!..Disabe or clean sweep it then look at cpuz! Is there a LCD upgrade for this Asus?

What sux is it's not using the unlocked multiplier..It's cranking the FSB. I just need a working PLL for my gateway!!!!!!!

BMW, I can do that, yes, it's cranking up the FSB. However, I didn't see that unlocked multiplier option in G50VT-X1 as well. I am not sure if we can do something with the RMblock64.sys file. Remember in 32bit seems we can use any settings we want...?

And if I disable it, that means you can't undervolt the CPU. I suppose the load temp will be pretty high.

But for 15in laptop, cranking up the FSB to reach 3.37GHz is already huge. Given the fact that the min. Vcore is 1.225V, I believe you will reach 80C+ if you reach 3.5GHz+.

Sorry for missing your questions. Yes, Asus will be able to upgrade the LCD for you if you choose their products.

Basically I am done with the benchies of 3DMark2006, but I got errands to run so I will post the results tonight. :)

Very nice angel.. The FSB pumps from 266 to 300.. Nice. :) And, no RMClock you don't gain much. But, you will gain a LOT of heat if you run no RMClock, and the FSB pump. Expect 80c+ on the CPU. I can finally OC my x9100, and it feels good! Im considering the FSB pump as well..just to see how it goes. Im @ 3.3GHz hittin mid 70s no RMClock right now.. and this is a 17" with more breathing room. I'll continue workin on the cooling, but be careful with not using RMClock! ;)

Angel, I wish bud.. I traded in the 7811 and swapped my x9100 into my current config in my signature. Just had a milestone for myself, in 1.5 days I managed to break 15k on 3dmark.. some guy that runs Killer Notebooks has "lab conditions" and sheit that he has been bustin a nut trying to OC to extreme performance. Eh.. I just used E-magic. Check it out:

My temps on CPU will be lower when new thermal pads come in, the stock pad was cheap. May just copper mod the chipset..We'll see. Anyhow, that's a nice rig you got there.. Keep on keepin on! :)

Well seriously E, whow heavy is this thing as 17in laptop? Heavier than 7811FX or lighter? If it's heavier than 10lbs I have to truly consider getting one of those. Let me know though.

Been planning to get X58 and i7 CPUs very soon, so I better off sell two laptops before I actually do it.. :)

I believe its about 10lbs.. Never thrown it on a scale. It's not as heavy and bulky as the NP9262/Clevo.. But, it does put up some impressive runs, for a lot less $$$. I'll wait on the i7 thing for a lil while..no need, as of yet. That's technology that needs to have some bugsd worked out Im sure. :)

where did u b the x9100 and how much did u pay for it? Is it in stock speed better than the p8400 overclocked at turbo extreme, I mean, can I really note the difference in games or photoshop for example?

u will see a difference going from p8400 to the x9100 may not be worth the $$$ to some but u will tell a diff especially if games and apps are more cpu intensive. check ebay for best prices and look for QS engineering samples. they are closest to retail.
