When I am playing games on my 6850fx, my gpu temps reaches about 83c. Is the safe? What can I do to lower my temps? I might add, that I do have a laptop cooler (Zalman NC1000) and it still reaches these temps.

    Hi Pmoney,

That's normal temperature in 6850fx, nothing to worry about. However, if you want to run cooler replace the thermal pads and paste for the ICD7 on the cpu, gpu and chipset.

    Cheers...

Thanks martee, I was getting worried about my laptop. Can I used AS5 on my gpu and chipset. I have it on my cpu, or do you think I should buy some ICD7 and apply it to all three chips?

Also, is ICD7 or AS5 better?

Well, you can't run the AS5 on the GPU and chipset, sorry. The IDC7 is the thick paste and specially designed to run on graphic cards so it can replace the stock thermal pads which you will find on these two. The AS5 can't do this. Take a look at this thread. Hope that helps. As to which one is better I can tell the temps on my 6850FX dropped 6C or more with ICD7 paste.

    Cheers Pmoney.
