Hi Guys,
I have a p6860 FX
I am having a really nasty problem with Windows 7 and GPU throttelling. I have a 3d App I work in and it works great for about the first 1 minute I have it loaded up, but then it always started slowing down drastically.
I installed GPUz to see what my GPU was doing and it jumps from 799hz down to 200hz
I'm glad I found the problem but I don't really know how to fix it. I followed the steps to disable powermizer but I couldn't find the correct registery entries...maybe they were moved with the latest driver installed.
Oh and I am doing this all on AC power...it seams nuts that it would be throttling it while on AC

What driver are you using?
I seem to remember all of DOX's drivers come with a hack that give you a 1 click powermizer on/off switch -
I updated to the latest I could find in a prior attempt to fix the issue.
On Nvidias website they are listed as:
Version: 186.03
Release Data: June 09, 2009 -

Hrm, and you cant disable your powermizer?
Try one of the DOX drivers. It comes with a powermizer disabiling icon so its one click and done.
I cant remember the last one i used. I think 182.something. Its was a VERY stable driver and gave me good results at about anything i did.
Other than thaty maybe someone can remember the regedits you need to do with normal nvidia drivers to stop the powermizer. I never mess with mine so i dont know. -
Alright I will give the latest DOX driver a shot when I get home, but if anyone knows how to disable powermizer with the latest nvidia drivers please let me know

The reg entries should be derivable from the driver inf. However, I can tell you that I've already tried every version (nVidia, Dox, LV2G, etc...) that I could find in the 18X.XX series and I've not been able to modify the behavior of powermizer with the standard reg keys. I had to revert to 179.48 to get it back to where I could set powermizer as I wanted it.
I haven't yet tried the 190 beta that was recently released, and I'm not sure about the latest driver available for Win 7.
The reg keys that I'm using in 179 are:
PerfLevelSrc, PowerMizerEnable, PowermizerLevel, and PowerMizerLevelAC
I think enable is a simple 0 or 1 toggle; perflevelscrc is 3322 or 3333 depending on if you want to use powermizer while on battery or just AC, and the other two can be adjusted from 1 to 3 depending on how agressive you want powermizer to be.
I'm not sure what these correspond to in the 18X.XX series drivers (or newer?) now, I only know that the drivers wont respond to these keys. If anyone knows what the new keys are, I'd appreciate their posting it. -
So the DOX version doesn't have a quick off button for Powermizer?
Edit: I just found this on google: http://laptopvideo2go.com/forum/lofiversion/index.php/t21782.html I can't try it because I dont have my laptop with me, has anyone tried it before?
EDIT: IT WORKED! I downloaded and ran that tool (with the latest stock Nvidia drivers), and now my GPU is at full throttle all the time! Just make sure and "Run as Administrator" or it wont work.
