About a week ago my p-7805u cooling fan became loud. I've cleaned it well from outside the case and I don't see anything in the blades.

It sounds 'off balance' and doesn't spin easily with canned air. It sounds like a bearing has gone bad, if they have them.

I'd like to replace the fan but I can't find one ANYWHERE for sale : - (

Does anyone know where to get the little bugger?

    thanks,

    Will

This is my problem as well, these machines are a little older now and the parts aren't easy to obtain. So far all I've been able to find is the P-6831FX GPU fan and the P-7805u CPU fan.

EDIT: This guy has both the CPU and GPU fans (they're used though) for the P-7805u: Gateway FX MS2252 P-7805u Cooling Fan - Both Fans #216-58 | eBay

Yeah I saw those to fans but ...they look a little rough. I'm hoping there is a replacement out there somewhere : - (

I actually have both fans and will be selling them. They are used but they both work great. I'm going to be parting out the left overs from rebuilding my 7805u. If you're interested send me a PM. Cheers, Sm

Edit: By the way there are also a few on fleabay, you just got to look for the part number. I recently bought the better cpu HS and the p70 gpu fan/hs unit for improved cooling off ebay. I'll try to find the seller info for you. :(

I have my GPU fan but am debating on what to do. My P79xx runs great but I do not need two large systems. So do I part out the P79 or sell it? I have to RMA the 120gb SSD as when rebuilding the system doing a Secure erase seized the drive up. It has served me well but the new system is just a true bear.

Off topic I am not even sure what these are worth anymore. I have 500GB xt data, 120GB ssd boot (once RMA completed), Windows 7 PRO, BD-RE 6x, Express 54 2x USB 3.0, 8GB cas6, q9200 on the P79 board with 260m powered with a targus 180w and helped to be cooled by a NZXT cooler with the spare P79 GPU fan to go in when needed. Essentially as upgraded as it can be.

Tan I'd be interested in the possibility of buying your p-79. Drop me a pm if you're seriously considering selling it whole. :)

Is your new system the Samsung NP700G7C in your signature? I am assuming a "bear" is a good thing?
