The GPU fan on my P6831FX used to be real silent and smooth sounding, and now it's real loud and making a buzzing sound. Does anyone know if there is anything I can do, or do i need to send it back.
P.S. The GPU has also started to run a little hotter.

time to buy a can of air and clean things up
its a 5 screws job, just make sure the can doesnt drip inside your notebook -
I dunno man...My 6860 I bought in the first of June is starting to do the same thing...only it does it when it's on a low speed...but when playing a game or something it doesn't do it anymore. I'm not sure if I'm getting hotter temps or not though. The guy at Best Buy (Geek Squad) said it may be a bearing in the fan..and I should perhaps give my laptop to them so they can ship it to Gateway..so I may do that. I dunno..I might just wait to see if it gets worse.
Oh also I've opened the back plate for hte CPU and RAM and haven;t noticed any dust so I doubt there's dust in the GPU area on mine..so I dunno about the dust. -
Mine is practically new. I forgot to put on there that I travelled with it then it started.

And does it void the warranty if I open it up to get to the fans.
-
Technically, yes. But theres really no way for them to know, unless you break or scratch the case up bad.

Alright thanks.

NP. Just be careful.
