Using: WINDOWS 7 (64-bit) Edition.
Hey folks,
The Gateway 14" Laptop (ID49C01H) has both integrated Intel and dedicated NVIDIA graphics. If I understand things correctly, the discreet card kicks in when needed.
Is there a way to force the "discreet graphics" to be in the for front as the primary display driver? ALL my other laptops including ASUS, Toshiba have the dedicated video card i.e NVIDIA and ATI as primary not the Intel built in one. I seem to be confronting this problem only with this laptop.
First thing i did is i went into FACTORY SETTINGS and checked, on the very first page after loading screen i noticed there are "2" video cards, the first default is the INTEL, the secondary default is the NVIDIA. Also i noticed this when i right click to DISPLAY -> SCREEN RESOLUTION -> ADVANCED - it shows the INTEL Integrated Video card as the primary ADAPTER not the GEFORCE GT 330M. Then I checked the DEVICE MANAGER and both cards are turned on. DXDIAG also shows the INTEL card in use.
If my memory serves me right, the technical specialist at Futureshop used a laptop of this exact same model with the same problem on demo and somehow went into device manager and did something with the INTEL driver. The screen turned black, he restarted it, after the boot the driver was displaying the GEFORCE card adapter instead of the INTEL in SCREEN RESOLUTION -> Advanced Options, i can't figure out how he did it. Anyhow.
I choose to use the NVIDIA card as the preferred graphics over the INTEL INTEGRATED VGA which won't run many of my 3D games and applications. The INTEL VGA Integrated only has 128MB of dedicated memory compared to the 1 GB of the NVIDIA card. However, when I run the Windows Experience Index test, my graphics score is based on the Intel Onboard graphics.
Has anyone experienced a similar problem out there? I know this has something to do with the OPTIMUM NVIDIA drivers for select laptops which seem to use both cards but i do really PREFER to have the NVIDIA GEFORCE GT330M as my default card AT ALL TIMES.
If anyone can help a frustrated fella out here, would be awesome.
Thank You.
