If anyone is curious about whether or not the CPU is upgradeable, it is not from what I just discovered.
I work on computers and for the heck of it took the panel off my Gateway to look to see if I could remove the CPU for a faster one. Currently have a 1.6GHz and thought about getting a 2.0GHz as an upgrade.
Turns out that Gateway has soldered the CPU onto the motherboard socket so it can't be removed. The 3522GZ is the same as the 3520GZfrom what I can see. Purchased mine in January and notice that Best Buy now has it as 3522GZ although it's the same specs. But if anyone was wondering about upgrading, forget it.

hmm very odd, when i took my laptop apart (3520gz) there is a socket and i was able to remove my processor..

How easily did your's come out the socket? I took the 4 screws off that were holding down the heat sink/fan. I turned the little screw that basically replaces the lever in a regular desktop, and lightly tried to lift up the cpu out of the socket. Even used a little more force trying to get it out, but it wouldn't come out.
I took apart an Averatec that had an Athlon XP-M 2200+ and that came out no problem at all. -
Whats the difference between these units

I don't think there is one. Not at least from what I can see on the specs of it.

I have a 3522GZ that I recently took apart to replace a broken power jack, and it has a removable socketed CPU!
