    I own a 400sd4 for 4 years now
I have temperature problem on the motherboard near the connector (probably a bad weld) recently it comes very hot , smelt burning part but the computer works . All the fans are ok. the mother board in this area is in poor condition (burned).

When the computer work on the battery there is no heat problem.

I remove the battery check the plus and minus
The output of battery is 15 volts +-

Can I connect a power supply of thinkpad (16 volts) directly on the small pins of the computer (the one who plug to the battery) or there is problems who will occurs ????
If it work I think I will solve my problem

    Thank's for your help..

i would look first replacing ur ac adapter - or replacing the power jack - instead of playing around where the connectors to the battery are. One wrong move and u r looking at owning an expensive paperweight

    cheers ...

:( if it is still working with battery, then the burned area probably can be cleaned and a rewired socket might work

    cheers ...
