I have had my Gateway 400SD4 lap-top for less than 2yrs. i was having trouble with my AC power cord. It was plugged into the back of the notebook, but did not seem to be charging anymore. I took my Lap-Top apart and noticed that a tiny piece of the motherboard (where the power cord connector tip would meet) has broke off. Has anyone else ever encountered this problem? Does it look like I will have to purchase The entire motherboard for this tiny piece. I am hoping for another alternative....I would appreciate any suggestions...thankx, BM

I have the same problem you were having on your Gateway laptop with a similiar model. Mine also is not yet 2 yrs old and is out of warranty. Have you found a resolution to the problem short of replacing the motherboard?

I just had that problem. Go to ebay and look up Gateway 400sd4 dc jack. You can buy one for like 6 bucks. take the motherboard to a local electronics shop and have them solder the new piece on. That might save you abot 300$.
