    Hi,

I know this is kind of a vague question, but I'm looking at my friend's Gateway 450 notebook, which won't power on. The inside of this baby looks pretty work-on-able, and I am looking for advice on diagnosing and replacing parts.

Apparently one day last summer, the laptop was set on a floor, where other items developed condensation. Since then, the laptop doesn't respond to the power button. If the battery is in when the AC cord is plugged in, then the battery light turns orange (charging), but never green (charged). Nothing else happens, regardless of whether the battery is installed or not.

I suspect a short in the power button, power control circuitry, or some such. If anyone can offer advice, or a source for likely parts to replace, please email me at mesanos(at)gmail(dit)com or write to me here.

    Thanks so much,
    Mesanos

You could try reseating everything though I suspect it aint too likely.
