I have a 4542gp notebook, when I boot the notebook up and move it any little bit the notebook will freeze and I have to hold down the power and power off the notebook, when I try to boot it back up the screen will not come on and acts like the hard drive will not load. I have to let it set for a few hours and then it will boot back up. Now if I dont move it and boot it up it will work find with no problems. I can't figure out what is wrong with it?

Hardware problem of some sort, I'm pretty sure. It sounds like either a loose connection somewhere, or the part about letting it sit sounds like something is faulty, such as RAM. But that doesn't really fit with the first part AFAIK. Just for the heck of it, why not run Memtest? Also, make certain your RAM and hard drive are seated correctly. What happens when you take the power cord out while running?

since the battery will not hold a charge I cant try that, I have checked the ram and also the hard drive. How do you run a memtest?

I did have the ac plug fixed not to long ago, but this was doing this before they fixed that.

Ah. I suspect it is the power cord. That's got to be it. If the battery is not acting as a power source, when the laptop is moved, the power connection can be jiggled and stopped for a second, which will freeze the computer. You should get a new battery.

after they fixed the ac plug inside the puter, it has a good connection. Can it have something to do with the power supply cord itself? Before they fixed it, the connection used to be very loose and you had to move it around to get a good connection.

Hmmmm. You could try a new power cord; I would check if a battery or power cord was more expensive, and if it's worth it, get the power cord and see.
