My niece was recently given a used Gateway 6000 Laptop. I noticed that when it was plugged in vs running on the battery, the power seemed to flicker in and out. When I went to unplug the power cord from the laptop, the end of the cord that plugs into the laptop was hot enough to burn your fingers, even raising blisters. I have no experience with this laptop but I assume this is NOT normal. Does it need a new power cord or is the problem more serious? I have not powered it on since. Is it even worth trying to get it repaired? Can anyone out there tell me what is going on with this particular laptop model and if this is a known issue? Thanks to all for helping an inexperienced beginner!
