Hi, I bought the Gateway 6860fx from best buy yesterday and am multi booting XP Pro and Vista. The problem is none of the drivers for the laptops hardware are installed. I've managed to find and install most the necessary drivers, but the 8800M GTS graphics card driver eludes me.
Can anyone link to the best driver for XP for this graphics card?
Help is much appreciated!!

Follow these directions from Johnksss;

That page has the driver version 175.80, do the directions still apply?

The_Observer 9262 is the best:)
Yes all of them.
-
Excellent, thank you.
Now I just have to get the audio workingYou wouldn't happen to have a quick fix on that too would you?
-
maybe
what is the problem? -
I'm not really sure, it's just not installed. I tried downloading and installing an IDT audio driver but it doesn't work, no sound on xp.
Do you have a link to the correct driver? -
FIXED
This site was really helpful: http://neonpulse.net/2008/03/06/windows-xp-on-the-gateway-p-6831fx/
Thanks guys! -
you have the xp driver in your recovery partition....
and the sound under xp is jacked up to start with. the left side is louder than the right. and has some crackling in it from time to time. -
Has anyone else had problems with 175.80? Age of Empires II freezes every couple of seconds..
-
what driver we're you running before?
-
The one that came installed on the laptop.
-
Actually now that I think about it, this is the XP system so it didn't have a factory installed driver. The first driver I've used on the XP install is the one in the link on the previous page, the one I'm having problems with.
-
try a lower version of the file then...like 175.63

Will do, thanks.
