    Hi,

I just picked it up for $900 and I am wondering if that is a good deal for it. This is my first laptop and I really didn't want to spend more than $1000 for it. I am also wondering if the 9550 64mb video would be good enough for some light gaming. I would like to try to play Doom 3 and half-life 2 on it. I have seen on the forum that everyone seems very happy with it and I am as well. I'm just wondering how long it would be before I would need to try to sell this and get a newer one because I know 64mb video card is just the low standard now. Any insight would be greatly appreciated on this one. Thanks guys. :gateway:

$900 for that notebook is a wicked deal. It's FAST...I had one before I exchanged it for the 7510GX, and truthfully the 7510GX isn't that much faster.

Doom 3 is plenty playable at 640x480 low detail (which sounds awful until you realize Doom 3 looks great even at that quality).

Half-Life 2 can be made to run at the screen's native resolution.

You're actually quite liable to get some good mileage out of that notebook. Even though the Mobility Radeon 9600 (9550 is just an underclocked 9600) is on the slow side, the Mobile Athlon 64 3400+ makes up for a lot of that.

I thought so too. I saw on the forum that on Feburary it cost $1250 at best buy. I was just worried about the graphics card since I know they can't be replaced on a notebook or at least this model. Thanks and hope to get some more advice from other members.
