Other than the processor they are pretty much the same but i was wondering which one would be faster ?!?!? i've used a gateway before and a toshiba and i would think the toshiba has a better screen. Is the gateway's athlon 64 processor still faster then the toshiba's centrino "sonoma" ?!?!?! i don't really care about battery life or heat ! I can't go to far from where i live(i have a inverter in my car anywayz) and it doesn't get too hot here in Hawaii!

What is your budget and what do plan on doing with this notebook?

If you are going to be doing any video encoding upgrading to a faster hard drive will help. May want to took a HP zv5000 or Averatec 6130. The 6130 has the 64Mb ATI 9600 whereas the HP can be configured with the GeForce 440. The Averatec has the Pentium 4, so it will run hot. The zv6000 is supposed to be coming soon. If you can strech your budget a bit, may want to look at this:

    Good Luck.

I think I would be staying away from any HP my self and would never look at the other laptop that Zazong suggested. You can not up grade the Toshiba's HD and are somewhat limited with the Toshiba. The 7422GX hard drive kit can be changed out if you needed a faster HD. Plus you can bump it up to 1.5 Gigs of ram.

I use my 7422GX every day working with Liquid Pro and also Adobe Priemere ver. 6 and 7. No problems what so ever. As far as the AMD 3400+ 64chip Nothing Intel has produced can even come close to the AMD 64 3400+, just read any high tech review.

One other point is the 15.4 wide screen clear view screen on the 7422GX, Nothing out on the market comes close to this type of screen. Its like looking at a CRT monitor, Bright and very clear.

Jack, look at the 2 computers side by side... I'm sure you will choose the 7422GX over any other laptop...
