I've had mine now for about 3 months, and have had no problems to date. I've read about the DVD writing problems people have had with the 7510gx but I haven't encountered anything of the sort. Any other 7508gx owners out there? Just wondering how your experience has been so far.

I've had mine for about the same amount of time.
No problems. I love it! I've been burning DVD's, copying movies from my digital camera, and creating movies. The games I play work fine (MOHAA). Better fps than my Pentium 2.6GHz w/ 256K NVidia chip desktop! Also, no problems with the USB seen on the other Gateway 7xxx series postings.

I haven't seen this model in stores since. I wonder why such a short production?

The only minor thing that comes up is that when using Pinnacle Studio 10 software, a message comes up that says "Your ATI x600 graphics do not support 3d rendering...directx9...update driver" or something like that. It's not a big deal, the software works anyway; it's just annoying.

I was thinking about getting the latest ATI Catalyst and using that ATI modder out there to install it. Maybe that would help.

    Great laptop!!! :gateway:

Awesome. Great to hear. I've been playing BF2 a lot recently and haven't had any problems whatsoever. I guess Joe Cub and I are the only people who have one of these.

    Dave,

While we wait for other 7508 owner's comments, have you tried Call of Duty 2 on this computer yet? I am thinking about buying it, but it would be nice to know how well it runs.

No, actually I haven't. I've really only played BF2 so far and nothing else. Sorry!

I've had mine since the start of September. It's been really great! I've practically replaced my desktop with this laptop. I do all my work on it now as well as all my personal stuff (photos, music, finances, etc.)

In fact, I'm taking it to a LAN party this week to play UT2004, Halo, and some other stuff. It works great in widescreen mode!

The only thing I'd like is a longer lasting battery, but what can you expect for the amount of computing power this thing has for it's low price?

Yeah I would love to get more battery life as well. But I have few complaints about this system. Anyone know the exact car adapter I would need to use in on long road trips plugged into a cigarette lighter?

Hmm.. Ya know I downloaded the ATI update the other day but hadn't noticed the change in Hypermemory. I wonder if it will change the 3DMark scores at all.

I discovered another little niggle that's bugging me. There is an intermittant noise on the speaker output jack when the power supply is plugged in. I hadn't heard it before with headphones, but it's really noticeable when using a set of powered speakers. The noise goes away when it runs on battery power. Anyone else experiencing this?

I just wanted to let you fellow 7508gx owners know that I have experienced some screen flickering problems, where the brightness fluctuates on it's own. I looked up this problem in this site and it is a common problem with the maker of these laptop cases (Arima).

I can reduce the flickering by lowering a notch on the brightness, or by pressing on the center of the bottom frame of the screen panel. It doesn't happen often, but if it gets worse, I will have to bring it back to Best Buy. I also bought the extended warranty, so I have some time to see if this gets worse.

it doesnt matter what car adapter you use. the max output from a cigarette lighter is 140 wats, and yur pc uses 90. thats what the big block on there is for, to convert the power to what you need.
