Hey,
I think my ATI X600 has gone bad on my laptop and was wondering what your suggestions were to check to make sure that it is indeed the damaged part. I was playing a game today, Day of Defeat: Source, and after 25 minutes the graphics went haywire....tearing/showing lines that aren't supposed to be seen and then it completely froze the system and the screen went blank. Would a 3dMark test if it is bad or not?...i mean I know that if it was bad it probably wouldn't be able to run some of the tests or would run them poorly at least. Any suggestions on what to do are much appreciated.
Thanks

Try downloading ATITools and running the Artifact Tester. Mine gets a lot of artifacting in ATITools at default clocks, but no artifacting in games, amusingly enough. -
Well, I just downloaded and installed the ATI Tools Tray (from Omega) but I can't find the artifact tester...can you point me in the right direction?
Here's my story in short:
I bought my laptop in august and in the middle of October (a few weeks ago) the gfx card on my 7510GX died...I mean the comp was fine and it would boot up and you could hear the sounds but there was no video and before it finally died I could tell the video was getting worse. I brought it back to Best Buy (where i bought it) and had a warranty with them and asked them to fix it. They shipped it off to a Gateway repair center which "fixed" it and then returned it to best buy. I now have noticed that there is a fan blowing out the back of the comp 24/7 and i beleive it is over the gfx card. However, I played DOD:S for the first time since getting it back and it appears the card is still bad. I'm assuming they were cheap and thought that by putting a new fan on, it would fix the card, but the card is already fried so it just "helps" the card from being a piece of crap. I'm trying to figure out exactly what was done and calling Gateway and Best Buy has gotten me nowhere because in all their notes, it was referred to as "part" and not the actual name of the part replaced. I'm trying to find a way to test it to see if indeed it is the gfx card that is still bad.
Thanks,
Mike
