    Guys,
First off I would like to say thanks for all the information you guys give on this forum. I have been a long time lurker but this is my first post. Anyway, I wanted your opinion on this, I think that I may buy the gateway 7510gx. I was debating on the 9300 and the gateway. I went to best buy yesterday and I love the screen on the gateway, the only drawback is that it is WXGA. I can get the gateway for $1550 with the 3 year warranty from best buy. Anyway, am I making a huge mistake? Also does anyone have any of the gateway 74xx or 75xx models and if so what is the battery life? Your opinion is much appreciated!

    Ryan

Well, I have an AMD64 notebook, a hp pavilion ZV5000Z, and I get around 4 hours :-]. The AMD POWERNOW! technology is very good at conserving power, and seeing that the gateway has a mobile athlon 64 and not a dtr like mine, you should get 3 hours, and that is very good.

I am also thinking about getting this notebook, as it has a much better video card than what I have now, and it is a bit more powerful. I say go for it man, you won't be diassapointed.

    Chaz,
Thanks for the reply. Really the only thing that is holding me back is the WXGA screen and the battery life. The screen is very vibrant though, looked similar to the toshiba or sony. Anyone else have any opinions? Is gateway reliable now days?

    Thanx

Well tuckryan, I also happen to have a Brightview WXGA screen. I have had no problems with it, and it looks absolutely beautiful. I had the option to go all the way up to a WUXGA (1920x1200) screen, but didn't because I knew that the video card couldn't handle games at that resolution, and I would have to apply a lower res that would make the screen all blurry.

As for battery life, I would expect anywhere from 2 to 2.5 hrs, I'm not really that sure. You might get three hours. You can always buy another battery :p

Yes, Gateway is on the rise, and I went to Best Buy to check them out. I thought their notebooks were solid and fairly good looking.

You won't find a better deal than the Gateway for the price.

WXGA screen is better for gaming. You will want to game in WXGA res. for best performance. And if you can do it in native res. it will look better than if you have lets say WSXGA+ and have to scale down to WXGA to get optimal fram rates. I think WXGA is a good resolution on a 15.4" widescreen.
