I have a question about the audio capability of the two systems:

It appears from the Gateway site that the current 64 bit drivers for the Conexant Audio Driver are Version 4.57.0.50 for both the P7800 series and the P7900 series.

The 79's also include "Dolby Sound Room" software to enhance the sound. Does anyone know if the software will work on a 7800 series and whether it actually improves the sound?

    Thanks in advance.

Just grab the 7900 sound driver and install it. Make sure you grab the 7800 driver also if it doesn't work. You could be the first to tell us.

Well, that is somewhat my plan.

Except, as I pointed out - "the Conexant Audio Driver are Version 4.57.0.50 for both the P7800 series and the P7900 series."

So, it isn't a driver issue.

I'm just curious if the Dolby Sound Room Software does anything for the 7800 series audio.

If no one knows, I'll probably give it a try. Was just hoping someone had some experience with it and might save me the effort or any associated problems.
