Hey whats up everyone...im new on this site...but i always used to do research from here when it came to computers....i got my gateway 7811fx and i want to know what are some upgrades you guys recommend?

    as of now...i got the

    Gateway p-7811fx
    Upgrades:
    Bluetooth module
    Blu-Ray drive

my laptop came with a stock 200gb with bios 9c.05.00
i was planning on adding 2x500gb 5400rpm in Raid 0 + Nzxt Cryo Lx + Intel Ultimate Wireless card + Intel P9500

I was going to go with 2x320gb 7200rpm + the intel t9600...but i do not want to have to worry about my noptebook overheating, right now as it is if i play call of duty 4 for over 2 hours it gets really hot (in the 80's Celcius)...if you guys have any suggestions, ideas, or just agree with everything i said...let me know whats up...thanks everybody!

80 C doesn't seem so bad. I have a m9750 currently in repair that the CPU and GPU both shoot up to 90 C just watching a DVD. lol

The T9600 won't overheat your computer; just buy Artic Silver 5 to replace the crappy thermal compound that they buy gallons on the dollar and I'm sure your laptop will run cooler. Also buy a laptop cooler if you're so worried about the temps. Your temps seem perfectly normal for a computer that has such components.

    Good luck.

Just get ICD7 and you should be fine, you could also undervolt.

I'd recommend the 500GB 5400RPM HDD over the 320GB 7200RPM drives....comparable price, comparable performance....more space and the 54300 runs much cooler.

As to upgrading the Wireless, its really a waste of money......use the money saved from the HDD and wireless card and upgrade your processor to a T9800 0r T9900.

Replace your thermal compound with ICD7 and read the undervolting guide and your temps will drop dramatically, and your battery life should improve a bit as well.

hey whats up...i like the specs on your gateway capper5016...you are just missing a blu-ray player! and installing the bluetooth was hell since i had to take apart my whole laptop just to add bluetooth...i have some xbrand cooler that i picked up from staples a month ago and while i play games...i noticed if my gateway is tilted up...well i mean the back is tilted up...i played gears of war and nbk2k9 at the same time...and my temps stay at 66 degrees celcius...so whatever i did works! lol...and what do you mean undervolted? how do i do that? and where can i get the t9900 from? i only seen the t9600 from new egg...

and 3 more questions..sorry man...you know more than me so i want to listen to your opinion....when i buy my 2 hard drives in raid 0..should i put vista ultime 64bit or windows 7?? and when i overclock my gpu to 750 950 1750...during gameplay it will freeze or lag...so i do not even bother overclocking anymore...and when i updated to bios 9c.12.00...my headphone jack doesn't work..so i restored it back to my default bios...

disregard about me asking about undervolting..i read about it...and i see the t9900 is the way to go since the core 2 extreme 9100 is 44wats where the t9900 is 35 watts...is gaming actually better with a better cpu? i mean with the p8400 right now...every game i play is smooth as ever...35 frams per second on 1920x1200...so im just curious if its really worth the upgrade? i mean im planning on investing on this laptop so it can last me for a couple of years...cause if i get the t9900...it has a great chance against the asus w90vp-a1..but the asus as dual graphics...but the trade off is its 26 pounds!! lol thanks everybody for the replies!!!

just out of curiosity, what driver are you using for your 9800m gts? im thinking the reason when i overclock my laptop freezes sometimes is because im using the nvidia driver 179.48 (which i know is the latest driver, but is also a beta)...you think my driver has anything to do with it? cause when i leave it on its factory defaults...my laptop never freezes during gameplay
