    Hey guys,
So I made the dumb mistake of forgetting to pack my laptop charger during my travels. As a possible short term solution one of my relatives has a charger for her dell that fits in my gateway and according to the computer says that it is indeed charging. I'm not aware of the specific voltage/current specs for the Gateway but I know that the Dell Charger is 19V with a current 50-60hz and Amp of 3.4A.
Is this a good temporary solution to charging? I don't see a point in buying a new charger as I'll be back home within the week. I just don't want to risk possibly frying my computer.

    Thanks for your time

It should be OK as the Gateway brick is also 19 Volts.

to charge only yes. The amps are too low to run the system and this can cause irreversable damage..........

Edit; use this advise at your own risk...............

Yes, Tanware is correct. The brick should have 6.3 amps to be safe.

my motherboard is dead because the AC did something, now the AC does not have output and the laptop motherboard has resitance. so the bad AC caused me a dead laptop with a short circuit.

if i can get something bigger that 120w i will go and get it

Yeah, I have been using the charger only when the computer is off and only to charge. I have no intention of playing games on it or doing anything strenuous to the system. I'll be back with the original charger by the end of the weekend. Thanks for the help guys

Actually the power board is a daughter board. You may need a new one of those not an entire main board..............
