Gateway C-141XL Delivery Issues

From what I can tell, Gateway is having extreme issues delivering on their new C-141XL laptops.

I put in an order for a Gateway C-141XL on 2/14/2008 (the day they were available). After an initial delivery estimate of 3/3, I was like a kid in a candy store. Unfortunately, on 3/3, my order was pushed out to 3/21. Guess what? The order status was just pushed out to 4/10. For those of you doing the math there, that's nearly 60 days.

I've looked around at the review sites, no one has a review anywhere. Sure, you can find a hit or miss review on the C-141X, which is almost the same machine... but not quite. It's as if gateway created the product, but didn't have any hardware to deliver it on.

I won't boor you with the details of my customer service calls, but with only one exception, it's been a complete nightmare.

So my questions are these:

• Does anyone actually have the C-141XL in their hands? If so, when did you order and get it?
• Is anyone else waiting for their C-141XL to arrive? If so, for how long and when is your estimated delivery date?
• Does anyone actually know why these are delayed?
• Anyone have any tips to wrangle getting your laptop from Gateway sooner rather than later?

I have to say, on one hand, i'm really upset and want to simply walk away. On the other, this appears to be one of the most powerful convertible tablets in the market today ( http://www.gateway.com/systems/product/529667902.php?tab=specs). Perhaps I can find something overseas that kicks this one in the pants... but so far, not so.

I have had the same problem. I ordered mine the second day it came out with estimated delivering 2/25. When that day came, i received an email saying there were problems and it would be delivered around 3/14. On 3/14 I got a call from gateway saying there was still problems and it will be bumped back to 6/4...WTF? thats 4 months for delivery.

Have any of you gotten answers on the shipping delay?

This is a mchine that I was thinking of buying. I would like a tablet. Wonder why it is packaged with Window Tablet PC instead of Vista.

 

Mine actually got delivered today. I don't know if it was the posting, emails, the "not so hot" gateway review, or the dig posting that got noticed, but I got contacted by a very nice gentleman day before yesterday that let me know that they were shipping my laptop out.

And... the thing rocks!
