Is it me, or has the C-series convertibles vanished from gateway.com??
I went to Costco today to do the groceries with the wife, and I showed her their display Hp TX2500z series "TabletBook," and she fell in love with it. The touchscreen amazed her!
I went to check out Gateway's offerings, and can only find info under the support area now.

Gateway is shutting down their online store, and will only be offering their computers in retail locations.

My wife's been getting along with a Compaq C712NR I got her on Black Friday ($349), but the 15.4" size isn't REALLY ideal for carrying. She surfs and does homework, so GPU isn't an issue, and neither is the screen size, for the most part. That TX2500z series machine looked REALLY nice...she said the screen size was fine, and she flipped out when I started tapping the screen!
Since I had just ordered that Gateway M-6851, I figured I'd check out what they had in tablets, and they were gone. Looked a bit bigger, being 14". Man, that TX is SWEET for the price+size+specs!

gateway tablets werent the best best anyway...were kinda heavy too.
you should be able to get that tx for under 1k with taxes and all =O -
Yeah- just priced on out, using the wife's APP, at hp.com for like $950 shipped incl tax (5% coupon works on APP). Nice price, I think.
I guess, even though the RM-70/ZM-80 aren't the fastest things on the road, seeing as she's coming from a P-DC T2310 (not even a C2D) it will be a step up.
Reading the review at tabletpcreview.com, though, they mention heat and the fan, would the stock RM-70 be the best choice? Spec-wise, there's only a 4W difference between the RM-70 and ZM series (31W vs 35W), so I dunno if that is a big enough difference to give up the maybe slightly better speed of the ZM-80.
Keep in mind, she's coming from a 2GB Pentium Dual-Core T2310 Compaq C712NR, which she says "is fine."
I can tell you, both the touch, and the "dimpled" trackpad, made her like the TX-z almost immediately. The size reduction, compared to the C712NR (15.4") would also be a welcome addition.
