I was recently given a gateway CX2610 laptop from a friend. I went to the gateway website to see if I needed to update any drivers. I stupidly downloaded the bios update, and ran it from Winplash. All was going fine until the laptop froze and shut down.

Now when I power it up, my screen is black! It attempts to read the CD drive, but not the usb slot. It appears as the keyboard isn't functioning, as when I hit caps lock/num lock, the LEDS don't light up.

Does anyone know how I can recover the bios from a CD/DVD and have it run automatically (without pressing any keys)? I have tried burning a disc, but I'm not really sure how to do it.

The bios chip is a MACRONIX MX29LV008B.

    Thanks in advance!

Anyone? The BIOS is Phoenix, just need to know if I can reflash the bios from a cd. Adding an autoexec.bat file to have it run blindly (black screen)?
