I am looking for the bluetooth module for my Gateway E-100m. I've contacted Gateway but they have been useless so far. The module that I'm looking for resides next to the pci-e wireless card. Is there another brand of card that will work in this laptop? I've posted in the wanted to buy forum with no luck so far, any help from this forum would be greatly appreciated. At the the very least maybe someone can provide me with a part number.

What about a nearly flush mount USB bluetooth dongle?

As to the card you're looking for i'm not sure. Care to post a pic of the connection? Its probably just a half mini pci-e card as well though. But i'm not sure on the E-100 as i've never seen one of those before

Okay tried to post a picture but I keep getting a 413 error "request too large" any ideas how to post the pictures or can you tell me what I'm doing wrong? Also to answer the question about using a bluetooth dongle I prefer an internal card if I can find it.

Bluetooth PCI: This is what I was able to find for searching in 3 mins.... and im sure this is the kind of thing you are looking for but I would suggest getting a flush usb dongle and highly reviewed and cheap $ such as this USB Dongle

The pci card that you linked to is exactly what I'm looking for and I have seen similar cards on ebay. Question is are these cards proprietary? Do I need to acquire one specifically for my particular model of laptop or can I just put in any model card that will fit whether it is Lenovo, Sony, HP etc.....

Any card will work, as none of those companies actually make their own cards. They just purchase them from another company and slap stickers on them.

The biggest problem you might run into is drivers to run the card. But you should be able to track them down online.

I still think a flush mount dongle is the better option as you never have to worry about anything then. (wish they made mice dongles as tiny as blue tooth ones :( )

Thanks for the info, the only problem I have with dongles is that my laptop which is an ultrportable only has 2 usb ports, one I use for my mouse the other for my external dvd drive, external hard drive or thumb drive.

Yes I will be using a bluetooth mouse with the internal bluetooth module when I find one. Also here is a link to the gateway manual please see page 69 for where the module goes.

    Kamin,

Looking inside my laptop it seems that the card I need will be something like this same bolt down point. Only difference is that there are 2 wires that attach to the card and this card only has one connection point. See this:
