Since the E265/E475 use the same motherboards, has anyone had any success upgrading to the following CPU's?
I own both laptops and have successfully upgraded both of them to Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile T7700 SLAF7 2.40GHz/4M/800MHz Socket P Dual-Core CPU. I upgraded them from the 1.8ghz without an issue.
I am very interested in any of the newer processors that are also 800mhz FSB.
Core 2 Extreme
Merom XE

Core 2 Extreme X7900 2800 4096 800
Penryn XE
Core 2 Extreme X9000 2800 6144 800
or
Core 2 Duo
Merom
Core 2 Duo T7800 2600 4096 800
I am running the latest BIOS. Isnt there away to check what CPU's the BIOS supports?

What does your processor socket indicate for the socket type? When you find that use that on wikipedia and they should be able to identify which family line will work in your socket type. And for that age of laptop I wouldn't go above a iNTEL T8100 that would be the best processor for that laptop if it matches your socket type.

The T8100 is slower than the current processor I listed in the original post...I also said it was a socket P. Thanks but no thanks.

I doubt you will find others here pushing the older system you have that far. Being as you already have the T7700 running probability is you could also do the x7800 or x7900, that is as long as you currently are running low temperatures. x9000 may be more of an issue for both the temperatures and the bios.
Now it is possible with the other CPU's that power draw could cause issues other than just temperature but this is the risk of going into unproven upgrades. TBH unless you are being plagued by 50% or higher CPU load on a constant basis going up from 2.4 GHz to even 2.8 GHz will not make that much of a real world difference.
On your response to the other post, the person was advising they would not go beyond the supported T8100 generational upgrade for such an old laptop. Of course you have already gone beyond that and since it is your equipment that is your choice.
You are already pushing the power Caps and other components well beyond their design limits with the T7700. Even in the same TDP class the T7800 will draw more power than the T7700 you have. This is why I warn on other issues with power draw. Again all your choice just be warned and even if at first stable watch for power failure warning signs. -
