Okay so im going to just cut to the chase on this seeing as how windows keeps telling me my drive is about to fail on every boot......So yeah, Everytime i boot windows im greeted with a hard drive failure imminent, Please back up data or something along those lines.

Now for a while ive see NO signs of this or such failure.......But just recently now the comp will freeze completely, Files wont load at all and just kind of hang up, Or games will freeze after a few minutes and ill have to open task manager to close down.

As for what cause this.........Well i was installing a pretty big game, And while it was installing my computer started to act up, Get really slow......Of course me being the impatient retard i am........I held the power button down and let the computer turn off............I wouldnt think that would warrant a HUGE issue with the hard drive but then again im no tech genius.........

So heres my big question.......Im REALLY strapped for cash, Having to move to NC for a custody battle, And really just going to have NOTHING to do.......Is there ANY way i can fix this hard drive problem or ANYTHING i can do to fix this without a huge bill!?!?!? Any helpful input is GREATLY appreciated!

It has been a couple of days, did you get a new drive or was there another issue such as driver etc.?

Hey Tan, Sorry for the HUGE delayed response, Things have been REALLY busy for family and such. As for the drive its still kicking and hanging in there.........Only prob is now it gets hot........REALLY hot, Sometimes ill lift the bottom to check on the heat its generating and by god just barely touching it i feel ill get 3rd degree burns........Now im getting quite scared, I have my eye on a pretty low cost HDD but just have to wait. The waiting is what really scares me coupled with the intense heat, Doesnt really help they dont really have a cooling solution for the laptops HDD bays. In anycase, Once i get a hold of the new HDD ill inform you guys and tell you on the new temps.

You could use a cooling pad but if your drive is that far out of spec I doubt it will help at all. An option, if it is stationary, is run without the HDD cover. That may help a bit.................

Meh heating pad id rather not, They tend to get in the way for me. As for taking off the lid, Seems like a viable option might give it a go. Im REALLY hoping its the signs of a dieing hard drive, I hope i dont switch to this new drive and get the same temps. I mean is everyone else with the gateway 78 FX models dealing with this too, Does their HDD's run hot on the norm? Or could it really just be my HDD dieing? Confused but ordering this sucker anyhow, 500 GB storage couldnt hurt i spose.
