    OK, I have the LGD3901 (1920 x 1200).

In "Display Settings", "Advanced Settings", the "Monitor" tab

it shows as a Generic PnPlay Monitor.

Should it be showing as a "LGD3901"?

Are there specific drivers for this screen?

Are the AUO's also showing "generic PnP monitor", too?

    Just wondering.

Yep, lukychmz is right, both screens will show as generic PnP monitor. The drivers are for the video card so they are not for any specific screen and yes, if the hardware ID of the monitor is LGD3901 then that means you have the LG display. The AUO would display AUO1088 in the hardware ID.

    Hope this helps.

    Well, that helps, sort of.

For desktop monitors, there are "monitor drivers", as I suspect most of you know.

For example, on my desktop, in the same place under "Display Settings, etc...." it shows my monitor as a LG227W (digital). When I first attached this monitor, it also showed "generic PnP monitor", but once I installed the monitor drivers I got the display settings that the monitor supports as well as the Hz that the monitor supports and perhaps more that I didn't notice.

In any case, I'm surprised that there aren't specific monitor drivers for the P-78 series notebooks.

Unless we just haven't found them yet?

most laptops are a generic monitor drivers. There is no real need for specific drivers unless they natively support other modes.
