I ve searched around and cant find a specific answer as to if i can upgrade my current FX P7801u with a Blu-ray player, alot of other info out there.
I just need a YES i can, or NO i cant. IF I can then what drive do i need and is there a specific procedure.
Please dont jump on this thread with other questions as i am only interested in the P7801u.

    Regards, BD

Yes, I not familiar with what models are out there now, as I did the upgrade a long time ago. I use a CT-10N, which was an LG branded model if I remember correctly. Easy to replace also. There are a few old threads on here about upgrading.

they all use the same chassis; i personally upgraded mine with a BR CT-10N in my 7805u.

other forum members have upgraded older FX models (6860 FXs etc.) with the same model successfully too.

@bluedragon: I've instaled a LG BT-10N in my p7801u. It was a challenge to exchange the face plate, because I never did it, but you'll figure out. The only thing that I think I loose was the light led, because I think the face plate covers it. Also, there's no way, yet, to convert it to RPC1. I asked ala42 to include this driver in its next release of MSCE.
    Regards

I too upgraded to the LG Blu Ray player in my 7805u. I ordered mine off ebay for $50. As for the faceplate, there's a Youtube video that shows how to switch them out. And I haven't had any problems with it.
