I just got my Windows 7 installed and was excited to try out the XP virtualization, until I found out that the Gateway BIOS doesn't support it. I did a search and found a thread describing a way to mod the BIOS and then flash it, but I'm kind of leery of modding as I've never done it before. Is there a pre-modded BIOS that I could use on my P-172 FX that'll support virtualization?

You shouldnt have to mod it at all. Just search for the .31 BIOS for the 17x and 68xx series FX and you should be able to just flash it will enable VT by default.
