    First question... very good possiblity

Second question... not if the god of computer technology itself visited them and graced them with untold knowledge of electronics, just not going to happen

    Why wouldn't they release a 480m GPU?

MXM card, insanely expensive, top of the line, and oh yeah 100watt power draw

The gateway cooling system would never be able to handle that kind of heat. Not even on its best day if they only sold it to people that lived in the north of canada.

Barring a MASSIVE overhaul of their business model and note book releases to date, theres no way this card will ever end up in an FX notebook.

Unless they ship them with zero warrenty and support, with a gigantic sticker that says buy this at your own risk... not responsible for nuclear detonations caused by the GPU staring fusion reactions on your lap, fire hazards, world war three, birth defects and occasional blindness. :p

    Doubt it anytime soon tbh.

They normally use their own chassis - unlike the Clevo resellers - so to accommodate a 100w cpu, they'd need a new design.

In addition there is nothing more powerful than 9800M GTS on their site - that card is SO old now, I just don't see them so quick to jumping to gun. They could have launched laptop with 280M, but they didn't AFAIK.

They had a model with a 260m but it isn't on the site anymore I think(P-7908u FX) . Gateway has never released the "top of the line" gpu in the FX's so i really doubt we will ever see a gtx 480m in them. With best buy selling the asus g73 for $1199 Gateway is going to have to come up with something to stay in the game.

Still making - by this you mean extending its models specs? I am sure that it is a yes (still making) for Gateway.

    cheers ...
