    I just received mine about two weeks ago now and the DVD drive is really loud when it spins up. Like for instance when I install a game the thing is really loud the whole time.

    Is this normal? Or is mine defective?

    its loud when it loads.

    and if its spinning really fast, you can even feel it underneath your keyboard/arm rest.

    did you call up gateway and ask them about getting the new 153?

    Dang that was fast, haha and disapointing, oh well guess I'll have to get used to it.

    Yeah I never called them, the more I looked at it the less I felt like I got a raw deal. The way they have that new discount set up you cant add another coupon to it like we did so its like $200 more or so. I still might call them anyways and add this to the complaint lol.

    butter the rep up that you talk to. then ask if he/she would be kind enough to replace your machine with the new refreshed one since you just bought it, or something along those lines.

    if that doesnt work, call again and try agai nlol.

    Yeah it's pretty loud when spinning on mine also. No huge complaint though, I don't really watch any dvds on my laptop.
