I upgraded my laptop from Vista to XP Pro and have everything running great with one exception. The sound does not work and I cannot find a driver that functions under XP at all. I have tried many different driver sets from Dell, Gateway, and a few from Intel but have had no luck at all.
Has anyone else switched to XP on this laptop and gotten sound working?
The Hardware ID for the sound device is
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8384&DEV_76A0&SUBSYS_107B0381
Any help with this would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

anyone able to help?

There must be someone out there with the same issue as I have....
-
I have resolved this issue, i was googeling around and got the gateway page that had HD Audio drivers for older laptops. by trial and error i found an older machine with the same hardware running XP(looking through gateways messs of drivers). I now have sound with my m-1625 laptop!
Now i would just like to be able to control my brightness... i managed to find processor managing soft. called speed switch so my batt last more than an hour in xp. Before speedswitchxp works you have to install an amd proccessor driver from AMD.
I dont know what download it was named...because i immediately renamed it as my xp audio drivers so i would not confuse it with the other drivers i had downloaded.
So...it is Attached as an executable zip, as i downloaded it from gateway.
cheers!
P.S.
and if you can help me with dimming/brightening my screen it would be much appreciated!
P.S.S
problems with attaching the file here...so i am uploading the file to my file den account.

OMG! Thank you so very much! It works!
I only figured out that I had a dim problem two nights ago as I hadn't found a reason to dim it. Have you loaded the catalyst control panel off amd.com? It might have something to do with the dimmer. I only loaded the basic drivers. -
Original file download link.

No clue as to why that Fn key decides not to work but others do. -
My guess is that there is an actual driver for the LCD monitor...
I'm still snooping around on that.
and yesh, i have loaded all the ATI drivers -
Would this work with XP x64 on a 7811FX?
-
u need special drivers for x64.....yay more fun

for starters thank you very much for the driver you supplied, thus far i have managed to get most of my crap working for xp however i still have to yellow marks of death in device manager for pci items i figure most of you have completed your drivers for xp on the M-1625 by now and im hoping to leech some of your experience
btw the ati drivers from amd.com which seemingly worked out for me are here http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx?p=xp/integrated-xp

hello i have not tested these drivers yet as i have no tools to scan for virus/malware but i did find some1 who has sent me a link to a zip which supposedly has all xp drivers for a m-1625 here is the link

sweet! if those do not work out for you, i still have all the drivers i used.
about the pci drivers....have you updated XP to sp3? When i did so, alot of drivers were installed with (or after restart of) sp3. almost like extensive driver support come with sp3. im sure they are generic drivers....but the yellow marks of death are gone! -
Is there any way I could get you to send me those drivers you found?
I search gateway.com and they only have vista drivers listed for this machine...I keep running into the same problem.
Can anyone help me out? I mostly need the ethernet drivers, as I currently have to use a usb card to get the drivers over there to even test if they work or not >.<
I can't even seem to find a list of what hardware is actually in this laptop, so I'm unable to search based on the devices.
Help?!?
Thanks!

Good luck getting any type of info on this site...unless you're a kid with a gaming laptop bragging about specs. This forum (gateway forum) is a big waste of bandwidth.

anyone still need the drivers?
i have them all in a zip now -
Hello Skisky
I would appreciate if you could send me all the gateway m-1625 rivers. I need them urgently -
Thanks,

I'm trying to revert my computer back to xp and this will be my first time on my own so if anyone could I would love the help its the same m-1625 and i'm having my own trouble finding the drivers. Not sure if the drivers that were installed with vista will work with xp is why i'm having trouble.
