Hello all, I am new to the forum and I hope I can get some help from the experts here.

I recently got a HDTV (my first one). It is LG's 42PQ30. I have read everywhere online about instructions on how to connect my laptop with HDMI output to HDTVs (HDMI to HDMI). I am pretty sure I just have to plug them in and it should work (at least see something or hear something). My problem is that the TV tried to connect but nothing shows up (no visual nor audio). Pure black screen with the occasional display of "no signal" when I select on the HDMI port that's connected to the laptop.

I checked the native resolution of the TV (which according to the official site should be 1024x768). I also tried a handful of other resolutions on my laptop including 1280x768 --> which is one of the supported resolution according to the user manual of the TV. But there's no luck.

Of course I changed the display and the output display as well from the control panel. I set the display to 1 (Mobile PC Display) and set the output display to 2 (LG TV) --> which the computer can detect. I also tried setting the output display to other options available such as duplicate etc. Additionally I tried changing things around, like setting the display to 2 and output display to 1. But again, nothing works! However I am quite sure that the HDMI cable and the HDMI ports for the TV and laptop are fine since the computer can detect the TV (I had the option of selecting the TV in the display window).

I have windows 7 ultimate 64bit as my OS. I am beginning to wonder if it is because of my OS that is causing all the problem...

    *edit*
My video card is ATI Radeon 2600 just in case if people are wondering.

Thank you all for your time and effort to help!

uhm, don't blame me if I said something wrong, ok?

May be you should install something like HDMI driver, :D, since my 9800GTS have a driver name nVidia HDMI ^^

Also, not sure if you've tried or not.

But sometimes rebooting the computer with the HDMI source plugged in can make them recognize each other.

Thanks for the advice, but I did try that already.

I also installed the latest ATI driver and I had a missing Audio HDMI drive that I just installed... but it still doesn't work.
