    Hey all,
Just picked up a Gateway M-6882h from Staples.ca. As I'm putting it thru its paces, I tried connecting the HDMI to my lcd tv. The image looks great...unfortunately, I cannot hear any sound from my laptop on my TV! I thought that HDMI ports had both video and audio channels in one...but I can't hear any of the sounds from DVD movies I play on my laptop, or any YouTube videos of my laptop. The only audio comes from my laptop speakers. Is this a driver problem...or, just me?
    Thx,
    Pete

You might have to change default sound out to HDMI in the windows sound control panel

Yes, change your default audio to HDMI while using the HDMI port.

    Begin rant...

Until more programs allow us to select specific audio outputs dedicated to that program, we will have to change the default audio each time. That's one thing I have noticed about games like WoW; I can setup a specific audio output (ie: wireless headphones) and every time I start the game I am automatically on headphones while any other audio functions are still using my default settings. Now if only my DVD/Blu-Ray software could do the same using HDMI....

    End of rant...

Mine Gateway laptop only has options for the regular speakers and headphone jack.
