Anyone have the Gateway M280E? How much did you pay for it? My school is saying we need to pay $1900 for the laptop.

I don't have one, but I take it that you are concerned about the school asking for more than it's worth?
That price is about right if they are purchasing a mid-higher end one. What specs does it have? Where are they purchasing from?

Gee, that's 575 dollars more. I can see paying $200 for an extended warranty, but . . .

So, what's the finance charge for ?

Financing brings things into an entire different ballgame. If it is being finance for a couple of years then it is not inconcievable that it will cost you a significant amount more than the original price.

Well that probably answers anything about the cost. You are paying to lease, which, by definition, is not going to be the same as buying.

The cost of the laptop will be $78.96 per month for a 2-year lease and $39.48 per month for a 4-year lease. This amount includes Windows XP Tablet Edition, Microsoft Office, a 4-year warranty, theft protection and accidental damage coverage.

after the 2 or 4 yearrs is up you can buy it for $1 or pay $50 to get the tablet refurbished back to its orginial state

Thats the more professional version of the CX200 series. I hear it has a better warranty than its consumer cousin.
