I'm helping someone out with a restore on a laptop and after restoring, everything, then putting word on, I took an image and then went back to an old image to grab some settings off it. Now I notice the colors are a little off on the display. Even the Press F11, the Gateway box, etc. When I boot up the old XP image, and connect to an external monitor, I see the issues with the LCD panel, but the external monitor images look fine. Scroll bar backgrounds are off, the background I had on there was I believe some default HP background, lots of green. What I noticed was some of the more lightly shaded areas of green, are no red/orange. Can barely discern the shading on the external monitor. Once I switch to no background, the background seemed fine.

    1) Is this definitely an LCD panel issue, easy enough to replace?
    2) Anything I can do do determine the exact cause or a work-around?
    2) Is there anything I could have done to have caused this or does it fall under no good deed goes unpunished?

    Thanx.

You could try changing the individual colors (RGB) in the NVidia control panel (if the card is nvidia).
