My Gateway MT6451 will not boot up. It gets past the initial startup (BIOS?) screen, flashes a quick screen with data, gives two beeps, and shuts down.

My understanding is that two beeps with the POST indicates a memory issue for gateways.

I've tried the system restore disk: same issue.

I've tried re-seating the memory cards: same issue.

I've tried swapping the memory cards: same issue.

I've tried booting with only one memory card (for both): same issue.

I realize its an older computer, but I would like to still get some life out of it. I am told that replacing the memory could work. Not sure I want to go there unless I have to.

Also, I hear a sound like the hard drive revving up and stopping, revving up and stopping, while the computer steps through the process described above. Could this be a hard drive issue?
