I am having strange clicking noise when using some of my keyboard keys, on my new Gateway MX6750 (15.4 Core Duo model). Laptop is new (3 days). It has been like that since the beginning.
Those keys are situated are the right section of the keyboard (''l'', ''k'' key, right shift, etc...). They does not jam at all, but it still feel awkward!
Any cue? Have you experienced a similar problem?

The keys are attached correctly? I would pop the keys off to see if there is anything under them. Be very careful though.
I hope that helps -
Well... it seems pushing down the panel at the top of the keyboard while typing help to lower the noise. So it may be more the the key themselves, and probably the bad thing is under the keyboard.
I just tried to phone Gateway... they patch me trough an answering machine!! I emailed them after and a tech suggested me to update the drivers!!!!????
Wow.. I am considering returning the unit to Futureshop. Too bad i tought I had found the dream laptop! -
Take it back to FutureShop and request an exchange for the same model. That is a nice laptop. I wanted to exchange my laptop for that when I saw it came in for FS. But of course, BestBuy doesn't get it

There is shop in Montreal where they still have it. IBut I am in Quebec City (3 hours froms Montreal)... well, well. So right now I am trying to get a swap exchange with Gateway since I am not comportable with replacing the keyboard with a new one, which they already offered me yesterday in an email support answer. They guy over the net is so far fast on answer and pretty professionnal. I'll keep you posted!! -
Good luck with that, then. I wouldn't be surprised if they do allow you to swap, but then again, I can see how they would discourage that. Either way, try to get it resolved within 14 days of purchase as that is the return/exchange limit (thanks Kathy at BestBuy Online Support who answered 2 of my email questions with the same exact answer involving the 14 day return policy even when I asked nothing mentioning a return/exchange
)!

As for Gateway, I am still waiting on what they will decide. But I think it's an ideal situation to see if they treat their customers with respect. I know they also sells extended warranty and I may be interested in one if they are staying cooperative. But i will not accept a repair.
After all, this laptop never worked like it was supposed to. I dont' see why I should have to repair it, over an over. When it's new, it's not broken!

It's strange tought that I seem to be the first one experiencing this..

Actually I did have a similar problem, right after I upgraded my memory. I hadnt screwed all the screws back in firmly. Other than that, it may just be an isolated problem. GL

Call gateway support yourself 408-273-0808 and they'll have you send it in. they'll fix it and mail it back to you for free. all laptops have a 1 year gateway warrenty. I had a similar problem with my mx6421 and they fixed it.
