I'm looking to find out what is the maximum amount of RAM and its speed in this laptop?

I know there is only 2 memory slots and I am aware of the limitations due to the OS type (32 / 64 bit) but to be honest their spec of the system was a little confusing...

Spec - Click here for gateways spec

    Thanks all

While the chipset should alow 2x2gb with no issue the bios may give issues. You would need to find someone with your laptop who has upgraded to know for sure..............

Thanks TANWare. I read somewhere else that someone bought 2x2gb and it only recognised 2gb, plus i'm don't want to get carried away with upgrades when its only a cheap Notebook.

Thanks JRSOR, I can read aswell. What I tried to explain in my first post is that this wasn't clear whether it was 2GB total or per slot.

    :)

The P-7805u specs are upgradable to 4GB and as we all know 8GB works fine. Spec's mean tested at time of manufacture. This does not include bios updates or the like with hardware etc.........

Then I personally wouldn't. Expandable to 2GB usually means the total unless they specify 2GBx2........
