Gateway MX6421 Problem

Hey people im purchased a Gateway MX6421 With a AMD Turion ML-32 Lancaster with 512MB of ram which i upgraded to 1024MB with a ATI Radeon Express 200M 64MB shared 80GB hard drive and so on but the problem i am haveing is when im doing day to day things like Check e-mail browse the web and stuff like that My computer shuts off 2-4times a day but when im playing games like World of Warcraft and Doom 3 i can play for 9 stright hours and it will stay on about the onlytime it does it when im doing day to day things so why is this happening?? right now i love the laptop its great for Games and stuff but im just haveing that one problem out of it so im dissapointed in it

 

"Check email, browse the web and stuff like that" isn't quite specific enough. Those are both internet related and may imply that there is a bug with your ethernet or wireless driver. If it also happens when you are typing in a word processor or watching a DVD then that could add many more possibilities.

 

Jimmyray, I'm having similar issues with my MX6450. I just contacted Gateway to send it in for service. I'm a little worried that it won't cut off on them. Mine will go for about a day and a half sometimes with out cutting off. I will let you know what comes out of it.

 

okay i mean i sent mine back to bestbuy just got it back today and it still does it so i will see what they will do to yours and stuff and if it works then i will send it back to bestbuy then let them send it to gateway since they got it coverd and what excality did it do mine makes a big click sound around the hard drive area like it had a hard shutoff and cuts off and makes the sound at the same time if it happens to more people then the MX642x models has a problem with them i dunno if i can live wit it or not i mean it play games great and only gives me problems on the desktop and stuff so repley ASAP please

 

i know a guy with the 6421 and he upgraded to a gig and his runs excellently. the fan never kicks in and it stays cool. Hes loving it. Must be a bad batch or something. good luck

 

I know but i think i can live with a knock off while doing word another thing is it only does it when its on Power supply but when im playing games AS long as it dont cut off there im fine but if im like typeing in word or something like that surfing the net i will just run it off battery or something or like installing something but what do yall recommend to do send it or and not see it for 4 months probally because of Gateways Blackhole of repairs or just live with it and get it seen about it later on or something i also upgraded to a Gig of ram still have the problems i have 984MB by the time Video Memory gets done shareing
