I have a Gateway MX6425 laptop with the AMD Turion 64 mobile technology with 1GB memory with 1.8 GHZ processor. The trouble I am having is when I turn on the laptop, it starts to boot up, then shuts itself off. It does this several times. It does not matter if it is on AC or Battery power. Once it stays on, after several tries of rebooting, then it runs fine and stays on until the next time I shut it off and then try to turn it on again. I read another thread in this forum about the clocking issue could be the cause. I down loaded the software to monitor the computer and changed the battery settings like the person said, but the issue is still happening. I noticed the CPU temp is around 60 C when it shuts down. The Notebook Hardware Control software says the CPU temp shutdown is 95 C. You can hear the fan turning on and off, so I know its running. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hmm, I have never heard of such an issue, or anything with a clock issue. Best to contact BestBuy, if that is where you bought it.

Something new I notice is that during start up it keeps jumping between AC power and Battery before it shuts down.

Is your cord loose? Maybe it's a problem with your power supply.

I checked the power supply, everything looks good there.

I'm having this same problem with this model. Started a week ago. Owned the laptop around 6 months. I thought it might be a virus, but the PC is clean. I suspected it might be the adapter, and switching back and forth between battery and AC, before I got here. Still investigating...
