Hi, I am still having USB problems with my new MX7515, besides this issue is a great laptop for the price ($1199 at BestBuy).

I am having real poor USB2 performance with my external devices (HDD and DVD burner). I cannot get over 13MB/s in HD Tune with my external while the same HDD does 30MB/s when connected to my old presario 2210 or my IBM T42.

Anybody with the same problem? I do video editing and need fast performance with external devices.

I've tried everything, don't know what else to try.
    HELP!!!! please.

My Toshiba 60GB 2.5" 5400 rmp external gets the same 13MB/s performance on my 7510GX, although Everest Home edition reports the ports as USB 2.0, so you're not alone.

I phoned Gateway about this about a month ago - and again today.

I was advised to install the latest AMD Chipset drivers - as the USB problem is driver related.

D/L this driver (it was released on Nov 2/05)

    http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/getFile.asp?id=20347&uid=106242846

Seems to have worked for me (so far)

Let me know if it works on your computer.

I've also noticed all the other drivers listed are updated - you might want to install them all.

Sorry, but it didn't work
In fact the readme file from that driver tells it's the initial (first) one.
Is there a site for downloading updated ATI CHipset drivers? Or I just should try the ones from GW site?
