We purchased this MX7515 notebook early December and only a couple weeks after using it started noticing, when we boot, the initial Gateway screen comes up with vertical lines overlaid on it, and then the Window startup (black screen) comes up jumbled( see pic), by the time it's totally booted the screen goes blank. Would happen only very intermittantly. Now its almost the time. Reloaded video drivers to avail. Any suggestions other than sending it back to Gateway?

Well this is iether a video card issue or a screen problem. Chances are its your video card, but to make sure do you experience the same problem when using the vga out to a standard monitor? If so you just ruled out the screen as the problem. With regards to potential fixes I'm clueless.

Thanks Synapse! A good idea...but darn it , hooking vga out to TV and I got same results on both screens, talked to Gateway, they initially blamed it on static electricity(nope) then they said it was software I added(nope) then to reload vid drivers which I did to no avail, I'm thinking its gotta be a hardware problem, I've Googled this problem and haven't found other laptops that have done this

From my experience with desktop's, actifacts such as the one you've shown are a result of an overclock gone to far or of excessive stress due to high tempatures.

If its already like that when booting up it should be a HW (video or screen) problem, no driver/software should make that effect before Windows loads. I would recommend sending it for repairs, or al least let the retailer (BestBuy?) take a look....they would probably send it to GW.
Just check your chasis and screen for cracks or damage (hope not)...they would suspect you dropped it if they see something like that.
I own a MX7515 and never had such problem yet.
Good luck! -
i'm quite certain it would be HW, the problem begins as soon as Gateway screen appears b4 any windows is loading...machine does get warm, but the problem occurs even with a cold start, I don't understand what overclock is, and if that would be in effect before booting...

After sending it to Gateway, I received a new laptop within 2 weeks...it was the integrated video device...Great service...I am VERY happy with Gateway!
