I'm working on this laptop for a family member. I was told it would not power on so I suspected the DC jack. When I plugged it in, I noticed the AC light lit up so jack seemed fine but would still not power on. Removed the bezel to check the power switch and the laptop powered up fine from the switch.

I decided to go ahead and clean it up and do the updates while I had it and waited on a new bezel. After hours of running updates, it suddenly lost power and shut down. Tried to power on and would immediately lose power so I suspected thermal protection. I let it sit over night and it's still doing the same thing.

Battery is removed, power supply and cord are in good repair, DC connector is tight. I noticed that letting it sit on the charger (w/ or w/o battery) AC light stays lit but it will flicker out for a second as it shuts down. If I don't touch it for a minute or an hour, the light stays lit but when I press the power switch it will flicker and shut down.

    Anybody had this problem before?
