Hey everyone, I'm new here. I recently was given a gateway MT6451 notebook for free. Its a few years old. It's in excellent condition, other then one thing. The DC power jack seems to be very touchy. I did just buy a new power supply wire in case that was shot. But its still happening. I'm guessing its the jack on the motherboard that's loose. Anyone ever change one? Can I save it if its just weak solder?

    Thanks again,steve :)

Your right, it sounds like a loose power jack. You could try to re-soldier it in, but new jack only cost $4 on eBay. Your local PC repair shop should do it for $50 or so.
